Polish History II

By January 15, 2012January 22nd, 2016Writing

A retreat through
staggered mountains,
ending in cliff-top
battle. Penned by
granite and air,
fog advanced and
halted, ghosts punched
holes in the famished
ranks. A sliver
of useless shingle
far below, creaking
obstacle and
elemental
dead end.
The sea
choked
on reflex.
The navigators stood
amazed.
Betrayed.
