(Characters: Diana, Lucien
Settings: Reloj de Sol Astronomical Laboratories, Balmaceda Campus. Hour uncertain.)

Diana: In the fluorescence one can see it come up and out sort of like a flower blossoming.

Lucien: Is it what iodine.

Diana: Formaldehyde.

Lucien: Better not light up I guess.

Diana: Suit yourself it doesn’t really oh look at that.

Lucien: A blossom or a or a rocket burst you’re right.

Diana: And the black of the edges appears to be more pronounced the further the edge drifts from the center.

Lucien: What’s the feathery shape.

Diana: It’s half hidden but.

Lucien: Not a stem something almost.

Diana: Decorative.

Lucien: Right a tip or pinna spire.

Diana: I’m not sure but we might need to refer to the original.

Lucien: I thought the originals had been returned.

Diana: Well they have but I asked Tetsuo to copy the first and fifth of each series.

Lucien: First and last.

Diana: Right the first and last.

Lucien: And it’s okay if we do that.

Diana: Internally I don’t think we’re out of line but I wouldn’t advertise the fact.

Lucien: So Sibiril’s chemists or whoever so they don’t know.

Diana: Not that I know of I’m pretty sure they think copies aren’t even possible.

Lucien: It puts us in a bind if we find anything.

Diana: If we find anything yes.

Lucien: Do we just pretend it was there all along I mean in the unedited version.

Diana: They’d have to know exactly what we were looking for.

Lucien: So edited unedited.

Diana: Yes I don’t think it matters quite so much what we’re looking at just what we’re looking for.

Lucien: I’m in over my head the theory.

Diana: It’s simple really but I’m not going to explain it here it’s nothing to worry about.

Lucien: I’ll trust you on that.

Diana: Good.

Lucien: I’d love to know what’s behind the nimbus though.

Diana: Whatever it is it wasn’t there long.

Lucien: Long enough to send a warning.

Diana: The ghost that cried ‘wolf’.

Lucien: Let’s hope not.
