(Characters: Dean, Christina
Setting: Cafeteria, ground floor, Ministry of Interior building, Plaza de Tijeras. Breakfast.)
Dean: What’s the damage.
Christina: Not what we expected.
Dean: Our expectations were pretty wide.
Christina: We’ve stayed well within budget I can say that.
Dean: Gold bars drugs asylum among the nomads any of that.
Christina: I almost wish but no.
Dean: What then.
Christina: A night at the Caballo Negro.
Dean: Her and her rustic luxuries.
Christina: Don’t know how much sleep she’ll get.
Dean: What else.
Christina: The name of Urbano’s fingerman.
Dean: We said yes.
Christina: She’d have found out on her own so we came off as reasonable.
Dean: And she used up one of her three wishes what else.
Christina: The apartment in Plaza Victoria stays out of it.
Dean: The one where she’s put up her sister and that junkie brother-in-law.
Christina: They’ve got other problems without us.
Dean: True enough and was there anything else.
Christina: When she disappears we don’t follow.
Dean: And she will disappear you think.
Christina: No reason to stay around now.
Dean: So we can almost stamp the file almost buy a round for the gumshoes and flatfoots and ourselves of course.
Christina: She’s surprised us before but I think we can call this a draw.
Dean: I don’t feel much of anything how are you holding up.
Christina: A shower a glass of something strong and falling asleep next to my guy will suit me about as well as anything else I can think of.
Dean: It’s why we do it or so we like to say while the lights are still on.
Christina: You sound like you’ve got tremors.
Dean: Urbano’s fingerman it leaves a bad taste.
Christina: You know what I think?
Dean: I’ve got some idea but go ahead.
Christina: You’re almost sorry you won’t be pulling the trigger on him yourself.
Dean: Damn right and can you blame me.
Christina: That’s what dreams are for.
Dean: Try telling that to her.
Christina: Or to Urbano’s man when we boot him out in the cold.
